While fascinating, each deep space mission is unique and requires adequate preparation and expertise to prepare for flight and manage its dynamics during operational phases.
The seminar will go through the Flight Dynamics challenges the specialists at ESA Control Center face every day, with a focus on the most relevant interplanetary missions under ESA control, going through the techniques and approaches for the trajectory monitoring and control along the whole lifetime.
Missions like Rosetta, Exomars 2016, Bepi Colombo, with a deeper insight on HERA will be presented.
Speaker:
Dr. Francesco Castellini, from ESA\ESOC has more than 15 years of experience in space and launch systems, mission operations, flight dynamics and navigation. He's part of the deep space OD team at ESOC/FD, involved in software development, mission preparations and operations for all ESA interplanetary missions.
Free admission, open to all members of the university community and the public, subject to availability.
