Pietro Ballarin is Assistant Professor (RTD-a) at the Department of Aerospace Science and Technology of Politecnico di Milano.
He obtained his interdisciplinary PhD cum laude in Aerospace Engineering in collaboration with the Department of Management Engineering and was awarded the additional title of Doctor Europaeus.
His research activity focuses on fracture mechanics and fatigue in composite materials, structural health monitoring, and on the development of numerical models for the analysis of structural behaviour and the techno-economic assessment of aircraft structures over their life cycle.
He has participated in research projects dedicated to the development of advanced models for the fatigue behaviour of composites, the sensorization of aeronautical components, and the assessment of the impact of monitoring systems on structural performance and life-cycle costs.
