The event offered a unique opportunity to experience the new building as a place for networking and shared experiences, even before it becomes the home of the Department's laboratories and research activities this autumn.
The choice of venue made the occasion particularly meaningful. With construction recently completed, the Aerospace Building hosted its first event for the DAER community, offering participants an exclusive opportunity to experience the new facilities ahead of the start of regular activities. It was a fitting setting to celebrate not only the summer season, but also an important milestone in the Department's growth and development.
The evening featured a rich programme combining institutional and social moments. Following the welcome buffet and the first beer-themed activities, Prof. Marco Lovera, Director of the Department, addressed the audience. Guests then continued to enjoy interactive experiences before the event concluded with a lively DJ set, music and drinks.
Among the highlights of the evening were the Beer Experiences, which invited participants to explore the world of craft beer through live homebrewing demonstrations, interactive workshops on brewing ingredients and beer tasting, and activities exploring the role of colour and malt in shaping beer characteristics. The Personalized Bottling Experience was also a great success, allowing guests to create their own DAER-themed beer bottle as a unique souvenir of the event.
The DAER Summer Party 2026 once again demonstrated the value of bringing people together beyond their daily academic and research activities. By combining science, innovation and conviviality in an exceptional setting, the event not only celebrated the beginning of summer, but also marked the symbolic opening of a building that will soon become the heart of DAER's future.
