DAER AT IFASD 2026: ADVANCING RESEARCH IN AEROELASTICITY AND STRUCTURAL DYNAMICS

From June 16–19, 2026, the Department of Aerospace Science and Technology (DAER) of Politecnico di Milano took part in the 21st edition of the International Forum on Aeroelasticity and Structural Dynamics (IFASD), held for the first time in Göttingen, Germany.

Organized by the German Society for Aeronautics and Astronautics (DGLR) with the support of the Institute of Aeroelasticity of the German Aerospace Center (DLR), IFASD is the leading international forum dedicated to aeroelasticity, structural dynamics, and aeroservoelasticity. The conference brings together researchers and engineers from academia, research institutions, and industry to discuss the latest advances in computational and experimental methodologies, conceptual design, and multidisciplinary optimization.

DAER was represented by a delegation of six researchers who contributed five technical papers addressing key challenges in contemporary aerospace engineering. The presented work focused on limit-cycle oscillations of highly flexible wings, aeroelastic control strategies for flutter suppression, morphing structures, and the gust response of high-aspect-ratio aircraft configurations.

The conference provided an important opportunity to present the Department’s latest research achievements and to engage with leading experts in the field. Through its contributions to IFASD 2026, DAER continues to support the advancement of aeroelasticity and structural dynamics, contributing to the development of next-generation aerospace technologies.
